The Founder, Kitty
I was born with a love affair of dainty herb flowers and soil under the nails deep in my bones thanks to my mother, aunty, and grandmothers. Somehow gardens were transformed into secret rooms, plants into medicine, and before I could ever be educated on the concept of it – I knew that’s where our magick lived.
It is a dream come to fruition working with my hands, with plant allies, and my intuition, to create offerings that you might call home, to create rituals of self-care, sacred spaces, and your own kind of magick.

Here at The Urban Cottage,
on Bangerang Country in Shepparton, Victoria, I create unique, delicious loose leaf tea blends. Sourcing the highest quality ingredients grown and harvested as close to home as possible, hand blending each tea in small batches to maximise freshness, ensuring you never have a bad cup of tea again.
Forget the dusty, stale, flavourless blends found on supermarket shelves. Instead, enjoy the vibrant, clean combinations of wild harvested Australian native botanicals and organic herbs that can be found in the cottage garden.
I am constantly refining how we present our offerings, the focus predominantly on reducing waste and plastic use. Our tea blends are packaged in amber glass jars with aluminium lids that have cork lining, and refill pouches that are 100% compostable. Our bath soaks are presented in the same amber jars, and RedCycle recyclable refill pouches. We offer a jar return program, encouraging customers to extend the life of our packaging and participating in a circular system. (add images of glass jar and refill pouch)
Knowing where our high quality, organic, and wildcrafted raw ingredients come from, and the impact of their sourcing, is important, and a huge part of the decision-making process when creating the products at the cottage. I prioritise sourcing from businesses that are based in Australia, that are run by, employ, support, or partner with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Island growers, suppliers, artists, and communities - businesses that are just as conscious, sustainable and ethical as I strive to be.
