Frequently Asked Questions
Are your teas caffeine free?
Cottage Morning contains caffeine. The rest of our range is naturally caffeine-free.
What specific health concerns can your teas address?
Each of our tea blends is crafted with carefully chosen plant allies, and you'll find a list of their traditional benefits on each tea's product page. However, we are not naturopaths, and our teas are designed primarily for their beautiful flavour and to support general well-being. If you have a specific health concern, we recommend consulting your naturopath or healthcare practitioner to ensure our blends align with your individual needs.
What's the best way to store my tea?
Keep our amber jars away from heat and direct sunlight to maintain freshness and quality. We recommend transferring tea purchased in our compostable refill pouches into your amber jar, or another airtight container to be kept in a cool, dark place.
Which teas can I add milk to?
While it is a completely personal preference, we recommend enjoying our herbal blends without milk. Cottage Morning and Wintering are delicious with a dash of milk or nut milk, Wintering can even be enjoyed in an iced-coffee style.
What do I do with my tea leaves once they've been used?
The spent tea leaves are safe to put in your home compost, green bin, or scattered on the garden. Our refill pouches are also made of 100% compostable material.
Do you offer tea in teabags?
Our tea blends have larger and irregularly shaped, real plant parts - leaves, petals, flower buds, stalks. Tea bags tend to contain 'dust' grade tea for uniformity and consistency in size. This doesn't always translate to high-quality, which is something we will never compromise on at the cottage. We also do not want to run the risk of contaminating a good cup of tea with potential additives like chemical bleaches, glues, staples, plastics, or microfibres. We offer stainless steel reusable tea strainers that are ideal for brewing the perfect cup of loose-leaf tea every time. They're high quality, easy to clean, and contain a lid for flavoursome brewing that doubles as a coaster for mess-free use.
How do I use your essential oil blends?
Our essential oil 'Diffuse' blends can be used in a diffuser, added to a personal inhaler, or diluted with a carrier oil for topical application. Our essential oil roll-on blends can be applied topically to pulse points. Do not apply near eyes or on sensitive areas. Our essential oil mist blends can be used to spritz around your body, in your space, to cleanse water-safe crystals, and on linens. Patch test before use.
Can I apply essential oils directly to my skin?
Our essential oil 'Diffuse' blends are undiluted and should always be mixed with a carrier oil before applying to the skin. Our essential oil roll-on and mist blends are pre diluted. A patch test is recommended to check for sensitivity.
Are your essential oils safe to ingest?
No, our essential oil blends are not intended for internal use. Essential oils are highly concentrated and should only be ingested.
Are your essential oil blends safe for pregnancy and breastfeeding?
Some essential oils should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding. If you are pregnant, nursing, or trying to conceive, please consult your healthcare provider before using essential oils.
Are your essential oil blends safe for children?
Some essential oils are not suitable for young children. We recommend researching age-appropriate oils and consulting a healthcare professional before using essential oils around children. Always ensure oils used around children are heavily diluted with carrier oil.
Are your essential oil blends safe for pets?
Some essential oils can be harmful to pets, especially cats and dogs. Always diffuse in a well-ventilated area and ensure your pets have the option to leave the space. Never apply essential oils directly to pets.
How should I store my essential oils?
Keep essential oils in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Always store them out of reach of children and pets.
What should I do if I have a reaction to an essential oil?
If you experience skin irritation, wash the area with a carrier oil (not water) and discontinue use. If irritation persists or you have a severe reaction, seek medical advice immediately.
