BOTANICAL ALLY BENEFITS
BOTANICAL ALLY BENEFITS
Gumby Gumby
A highly regarded bush medicine, Gumby Gumby means ‘Medicine Plant’. We love it for its energising treatment of chronic fatigue and support in general wellbeing. Traditionally used to treat common allergies, coughs, and colds, Gumby Gumby also reduces blood pressure, improves circulation, and detoxifies.
Oatstraw (Avena Sativa)
High in iron, zinc, calcium, and magnesium. A restorative herb that deeply nourishes the entire body, calming and strengthening the nervous system, easing anxiety, and circulating chi around the body.
Nettle (Urtica Dioica)
Nutrient rich, containing iron, vitamins A, B, C, and K, nettle is one of the best tonics of the herb kingdom, wonderful in restoring health, and effective at treating colds before they mature.
Lemon Verbena (Aloysia Citrodora)
Relieves nervous and mental strain, eases fatigue, and calms digestion. Lemon verbena is an excellent tonic for internal organs, rich in antioxidants and vitamin C.
Hops (Humulus Lupulus)
Once a religious herbe, hops calms an overactive mind, soothes ravaged nerves, cleanses blood and organs (yet another tonic), and stimulates the appetite, encouraging healthy eating habits in those who anxiety may prevent otherwise.
Lemon Balm (Melissa Officinalis)
Combats depression, headaches, and anxiety, calming the nervous system and reducing digestive cramps, especially those present due to anxiety.

WHAT'S IN AN AWARD?
WHAT'S IN AN AWARD?
Clean + Conscious Awards celebrate exceptional products that work in perfect harmony with our bodies, the environment, and society.
The four key elements in focus when judging each entry are:
CLEAN - Containing only non toxic ingredients and materials
ETHICAL - Manufactured fairly using ethically sourced ingredients and materials
SUSTAINABLE - Produced ensuring long-term environmental quality for future generations
RESPONSIBLE - Beneficial to the welfare of local and global communities
What makes TONIC stand out?
Made from excellent organic and wild harvested ingredients.
We formulate products predominantly using Australian grown/sourced ingredients, with priority given to Australian businesses that employ, support, or partner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander growers, suppliers, and communities. We make and package by hand in small batches to ensure high quality, zero waste products that contain nothing but organic and premium wild harvested botanicals.
We source ingredients/materials as close to us as possible in order to reduce our carbon footprint, and only source from businesses that have eco and sustainable practices in place (solar power, rainwater collection, hand harvesting/drying/packing). The Urban Cottage reuses incoming packaging for outgoing postage and/or completely plastic free postage materials, packaging products in compostable, recyclable, or reusable materials, and we offer a jar return system to close the loop on packaging materials. Finally we package our teas loose leaf to reduce environmental impact by encouraging home composting and zero waste tea-making.
We donate a portion of every sale to Aboriginal, female led businesses, causes, and organisations around the country that offer healing services and support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women.
WHAT THE CLEAN + CONSCIOUS EXPERTS HAD TO SAY
WHAT THE CLEAN + CONSCIOUS EXPERTS HAD TO SAY
“A subtle, grounding, calming blend containing beautiful organic wild harvested ingredients. I steeped this a little over the recommended 5-7 minutes to really bring out the notes of lemon verbena. This is my first time ever ingesting native Gumbi Gumbi, which after some brief research I’ve learnt is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory. The added ingredients of melissa, hops and oatstraw make it an excellent before-bed brew. I really appreciate that ingredients have been sourced and wild harvested in a way that benefits first nations growers, suppliers and communities, as well as the extra steps this small business takes to reduce waste and give back to first nations communities.” – Emma Freeman
“The loose leaf tea is wonderfully rustic in that it contains whole dried herbs and hops (flowers). Both the flavour and aroma of this nourishing tisane brings a sense of calm and a connection to nature. I love the addition of traditionally used herbs such as Gumby Gumby and Oat Straw, which are thought to possess health promoting qualities that reduce stress, support heart health and boost immunity for example. It is inspiring to see that The Urban Cottage focuses on supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities through the local businesses they choose to partner with, as well as the charities they contribute to.” – Dominique Scott
“Love the fully plastic free packaging and reuse of old business cards. I love that the brand sources not just from Australia but, where possible, from Victoria- making their product with a focus on regional and thus reducing food miles (and supporting local communities). The inner packaging is certified as home compostable, which is something I always look for when buying.” – Jade Wood
